Charissa’s Voice Coaching Philosophy
The goal for my studio is to provide a safe, encouraging environment for the student to create and participate in music. I believe that every human being should have the right to participate in music in some way. A human being’s experience on earth is not complete without musical exposure and participation. Any person has the ability to progress musically and participate in educated, creative and meaningful music making.
My experience and personality makes my teaching unique, high energy with large holistic influence. I am a coloratura soprano. Therefore I can easily accesses high flexible singing as well as resonant chest voice tones. My additional instruction in musical theatre and speech level singing has served me in the lesson environment when I am required to model for many different genres and voice types. I also have a vast knowledge to draw upon to teach the student correct audition preparation and execution. Students that study with me obtain a deeper understanding of the value of the composer’s choices, more choices in their vocal repertoire, and a holistic unraveling of vocal technique. My hope is that my teaching will bolster the student’s mental focus, growth, and willingness to adapt.
Musical communication is extremely important to me. Communication through music is what fuels my personal interest in music making. A musical performance is not complete without acting intention. I will require my students to do a bit of homework on this part of the learning process because I believe it is important to create a character based on thorough exploration.”

“Charissa is an amazing teacher, singer, and human. She cultivates a warm and inviting atmosphere that allows you to relax and focus on learning and improving. That coupled with her knowledge and teaching technique has helped me to become a better singer than I previously thought possible as well as a better artist. I would recommend Charissa to anyone from those that are just trying to learn to read music to those that are trying to get to the next level, you will not be disappointed.” -Nick Wigg
